Music and Sound Art
As an improviser, percussionist and sound designer, I have mainly focused on collective creation, non-Western musical traditions, and acousmatic composition. My musical training began with the Stuttgarter Hymnus Chorknaben, private teachers and SFU intensives with Glen Velez, Pauline Oliveros, Pak Chokro, I Nyoman Wenten, and Trishy Shankaran among others. I have worked as a sound designer for theatre, dance and film, on several video games for Electronic Arts, and often collaborate on radiophonic and acousmatic projects with composer Darren Copeland.

I have been a member of the Vancouver Gamelan Community since the first Summer Intensive at the School for the Contemporary Arts, Simon Fraser University, with Pak Chokro, I Njoman Wenten and Pauline Oliveros in 1986, and subsequent intensives with Sutrisno Hartana. I perform regularly with Gamelan Alligator Joy, the Javanese Gadon-style gamelan originally commissioned by Martin Bartlettt at the Western Front, Vancouver, and the Balinese Batel Ensemble 'Turtle Bliss'.
